THE CENTERBOARD
YACHT CLUB invites you to participate in the 2008 Centerboard Regatta. The
turnout for this full day of yacht racing, the first full-blown competition of
the summer, is always strong giving everyone a chance to see old friends and
rivals and make new ones.
THE CENTERBOARD
YACHT CLUB’S Officers and Race Committee are pleased to welcome all eligible
sailboats, their skippers and crews, and in the Corinthian spirit of fair play,
we extend our sincerest best wishes to all.
LIVE MUSIC CYC is bringing back For Pete's Sake again for the 2008 regatta.
Registration is from 07:30 to 8:30 hours. Skippers’ meeting is at 09:00 hours. First gun is at 12:00
hours. Coffee and donuts will be provided before the races. Awards and party after the race.

ELIGIBILITY THE
CENTERBOARD REGATTA is open to all yachts
holding valid PHRF or NEMA certificates in the Division in which they plan to
race. Auxiliary power meeting the
Category 2 equipment standards of the PHRF-NE/ Maine Fleet Criteria for
Eligibility is required on all yachts. STARTING
DIVISIONS There will be a racing (spinnaker) division and a cruising (non-spinnaker) division. Class breaks will be at the discretion of the Race Committee and will be announced at the skippers meeting. A separate start will be granted to any One-Design class with 5 or more entrants. BOATS WISHING
TO RACE in addition to One-Design Classes (J-30,etc.)
may be permitted to do so providing that five (5) or more yachts of that
Class register in advance. SCHEDULE SATURDAY,

WE WILL HOLD TWO RACES on the same
day Each race will last approx-imately 2 hours. The warning gun for the second race will
be approximately ¼ hour after the last boat in the first race finishes. COURSES COURSES will be posted on the Race Committee Boat
prior to the start, PHRF and Cruising Class courses will be (a.) selected from a list
of predetermined courses and their marks which will be provided at
Registration., or (b.) a group of marks from CYC MARKS list along with
rounding information. RULES ISAF Rules of Racing 2005-2008 and US Prescriptions, as adopted by
the U.S. Sailing Association, will govern. The life raft requirement is hereby
waived. SCORING THE TWO RACES will be scored sepa- rately under the low point system, and the
total combined points for both races will determine the winners in each
Division. In the event of a tie, the lowest combined corrected time of both
races will be the determining factor. AWARDS PRIZES will be awarded to the first two finishers for
each division, unless there are a least 5
entries in a division in which case the top 3
finishers will be awarded prizes. THE WINNERS will be announced after the races and the awards will be mailed at a later date. |
CREW LIMITS The maximum weight of the crew including
skippers allowed aboard each yacht listed below and is based upon an average
of 180 lb. multiplied by number of crew. The total weight can not be exceeded
without penalty. Crew number listed below is to be used as a guideline.
POST RACE ACTIVITIES WILL BE HELD AT Centerboard Yacht Club on Saturday at the
conclusion of the races. The Officers of
CYC request that all skippers be
responsible for seeing that under-age crew
members refrain from consuming
alcoholic beverages on CYC premises. COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE and donuts will be served to
race participants between 07:30 and 10:00 hours. ENTRY FEES ***
