Centerboard's We Rise Program Awarded $28,000 FIFA Grant to Protect Youth During the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Centerboard is proud to announce that its We Rise Program has been awarded a $28,000 grant from FIFA to support critical initiatives aimed at protecting youth from commercial sexual exploitation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The funding recognizes the growing need for prevention, education, and survivor support during large-scale international events, where research has shown that vulnerable populations can face an increased risk of exploitation. Through this investment, FIFA is helping strengthen local efforts to ensure youth have access to the resources, advocacy, and trauma-informed care they need.

"This funding represents more than financial support—it is an investment in the safety, healing, and future of young people in our community," said Kearra Wright, Director of We Rise. "As we prepare for the increased risks associated with the 2026 World Cup, this grant allows us to expand our efforts to educate, support, and empower youth while strengthening the network of services available to survivors."

The We Rise Program serves youth who are at risk of or have experienced commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). Through individualized case management, mentorship, mental health services, prevention education, life skills programming, and community outreach, the program helps young people reclaim their voices and build safer, healthier futures.

The $28,000 grant will support a range of We Rise initiatives, including:

Trauma-informed mental health services

Prevention education and awareness programming

Survivor-centered support services

Community outreach and engagement

Resources that strengthen safety and resilience for youth during the 2026 FIFA World Cup

The award reflects FIFA's commitment to promoting the safety and well-being of host communities throughout the tournament and recognizes the importance of partnering with organizations already making a meaningful impact on the ground.
