Nonprofits Pledge 200 Bikes to Lynn Kids.

June 2026: Mutt Society and Centerboard’s Lynn Family Resource Center Team Up

More Than 150 Bikes Bring Joy and Opportunity to Lynn Youth

On Saturday, July 18, Centerboard's Lynn Family Resource Center proudly partnered with Mutt Society to host the 2026 Give & Ride Bike Giveaway, providing more than 150 children in Lynn with brand-new and refurbished bicycles—and creating unforgettable memories for families across the community.

Through a preregistration lottery, youth ranging in age from one to 18 received bikes just in time for summer, giving them more than a new way to get around. For many, a bicycle represents freedom, independence, physical activity, and the opportunity to explore their neighborhoods with confidence.

Mutt Society, a nonprofit based in Salem, New Hampshire, selected Lynn for this year's event because of the organization's strong connection to the community and shared commitment to supporting local youth. The nonprofit's mission is to use bicycles to elevate and empower communities, a mission inspired by Co-Founder Trent Sanders' own experience of how biking transformed his life.

"Bikes saved my mental health—probably even saved my life," Sanders shared. "Hopefully one child finds that same spark of hope, freedom, or possibility that a bike gave me."

Throughout the day, volunteers assembled bikes, greeted families, fitted helmets, and celebrated as children rode away on their new bikes—some learning to ride for the very first time. The excitement and gratitude from families served as a powerful reminder that even a simple gift can create lasting impact.

"This is fantastic," said Olivia Grinstead, Director of Centerboard's Lynn Family Resource Center. "It's amazing to see a need in our community and be part of meeting it. Something as simple as a bike can make a child's summer so much easier and create opportunities for fun, independence, and connection."

The event reflects the Lynn Family Resource Center's commitment to "doing whatever it takes" to support local families. In addition to parenting programs and youth activities, the Family Resource Center offers essentials including food assistance, clothing, baby supplies, car seats, transportation support, and connections to community resources—continually adapting its services to meet the evolving needs of Lynn families.

This incredible day would not have been possible without the dedication of Mutt Society's volunteers, the support of Centerboard staff, and the generosity of community partners and sponsors.

Coverage of the event included Patch.com, Item Live, WBUR Radio, Boston 25, and WBZ Radio.
